We've had a few foggy mornings here lately in North Carolina.
Driving in foggy conditions requires us to be more attentive. Due to the limited visibility, we remove extraneous distractions, become more alert, and grip the steering wheel a little more tightly. While navigating a vehicle in fog can be stressful, it is unwise to try to speed through it. Accelerating in an effort to quickly get through the fog is reckless and dangerous. It is wise to slow down, take your time, and stay alert. Foggy conditions require caution.

This is also the case when we find ourselves in the midst of foggy seasons in our lives. We've all been there! Those times when we find ourselves wondering what is next. We are uncertain of what is around the corner, and we often ask God, "What are You up to?"
Do you remember way back in Driver's Ed class we were taught, against our instinct, that using high beams when driving in fog actually diminishes our visibility? That's because the light we shine reflects off the fog back into our line of sight.
However, ...
Fog dissipates with sunlight.
Did you catch that? Our light makes navigating through fog more difficult. But, sunshine lifts the fog altogether!
We all go through foggy seasons in life when we find ourselves wondering what is next. When we try to lean on our abilities, motives, and timelines, we are actually being counterproductive. But, when we put our trust in God's plans, God's timing, and God's wisdom, we are able to see our path and destination more clearly.
Perhaps you are in a foggy season...
You've entered a new phase in life - you've had a baby or you've become an empty nester
You're preparing for a career change.
You're uncertain about a relationship.
You're awaiting news from a doctor.
What would it look like to trust God? Carve out time to sit with Him. Share your fears, doubts, and frustrations. Ask Him to help you use this season as an opportunity to build your faith in Him. He is there, ready to remind you of His perfect love and promises. Allow His light to guide your path (Psalm 119:105), continually seeking Him first (Matt. 6:33).
