Celebrating the women in our lives

I grew up with a mom who instilled the value of friendship in me. Family was first for her, but she also prioritized time with friends. She was part of a group of women who call themselves "Stitch and Bitch" because they would gather to cross stitch, and well...."talk" (my apologies if the word offends you). So, as funny as it may sound, I grew up with this phrase and didn't know it had a "bad word" in it for quite some time!

This vibrant group showed me the power of connecting with other women. They travel, laugh, and do life together. My "extra moms" celebrated my graduations, attended my wedding, and threw me baby showers. They showed up when my mom died suddenly, and one even became my stepmom, whom I love dearly! The Stitch and Bitch still gather and love each other well; their friendships have lasted for decades!

These incredible women have taught me to value the type of friends who...

  • make you laugh until you wet your pants

  • inspire you to be who you've been created to be

  • offer a sturdy shoulder to cry on

  • have seen you at your worst and love you even more as a result

  • have seen you at your best and brought the confetti poppers and pom poms

  • you trust beyond measure

No matter how you feel about Valentine's Day, this is a great week to celebrate all the women in our lives. Have fun honoring your friends this week!
