A spectacular scene!

Amy Loflin

Last Friday evening, I was surrounded by a cozy blanket, girlfriends’ laughter, and cool, salt air. As the light of the harvest moon danced on the water in front of us, one friend noticed a cone-shaped light traveling across the starry sky. We all lept out of our chairs in sheer awe and amazement! We gasped, pointed, and videoed as we speculated on what this object could be. Is this a glimpse of the Comet A3 on its 80,000 year orbit? Or, perhaps a SpaceX Rocket? Either way, it remains one of the most spectacular visions I've ever seen!

As I reflect on that breathtaking moment, I realize how easily we could have missed it had we been indoors, oblivious to the wonders unfolding just outside our window. Which leads me to ponder: how often do we let life pass us by, distracted by the mundane? What have we missed, simply because we didn't have eyes to see the incredible power and presence of God? How many blessings have been overlooked?

Sister, we serve a creative, persistent God. He wants to make His presence known! Our Divine Creator reveals His goodness through small whispers and bold declarations. Our role is simply to pay attention. One of the most powerful ways to open your eyes is to keep a running list of all the ways you experience Him.

This doesn’t have to be an elaborate exercise. Grab a notebook and commit to writing down at least ten gifts you receive each day. This simple yet transformative exercise has made a profound impact on my life by helping me see God’s fingerprints all around me. If you want to explore this in greater detail, I highly recommend One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voscamp.

Let’s challenge ourselves to actively seek signs of God’s beauty and presence, thereby opening our hearts to receive the love and transformation God has for each of His daughters.

Father God, Thank You for Your unending goodness and pursuit of my heart. I’m grateful for this reminder to pay attention. Give me eyes to see. Forgive me when I’m too distracted or busy, too worried or fretful to recognize Your glory. I don’t want to miss the countless ways You reveal Your heart to me on a daily basis. Help me to remain in grateful, expectant awe of You! Amen
