The world recently lost a legend, a man who seized life with adventure and delight. Jimmy Buffett’s music career spanned over fifty years and he was well known for his “life is a party” magnetic personality. His unique style and infectious smile drew millions of fans.
Upon hearing of his passing, I scrolled through many famous quotes by him, and lost count of the ones I found to be thought-provoking and inspiring. And so, I think it fitting as summer draws to a close, to highlight a popular quote:
“If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane!” – Jimmy Buffett It doesn’t take long in life to realize the medicinal power of laughter. Proverbs 17:22 reminds us that “A cheerful heart is good medicine.” Even in deep grief, even through tears, a moment of laughter brings relief and fresh perspective. It keeps us moving, keeps us breathing, and helps us put one foot in front of the other.
So, dear sisters, no matter what life has thrown your way, I pray you are surprised by joy. As the busyness of Fall approaches, seek and prioritize moments of belly-aching laughter.
